Flu

Symptoms Typical Duration
  • Fever that comes on quickly (38– 40oC; 100–104oF);
  • Sweating and feeling feverish;
  • General muscle aches and pains;
  • A feeling of general tiredness;
  • Dry, chesty cough;
  • Sneezing;
  • Running or blocked nose;
  • Difficulty sleeping.
The fever can last for 3-5 days, with the other symptoms lasting for up to 2 weeks.
 Self-Help Advice
  • Get vaccinated if you are in an at risk group.
  • Stay in bed until the acute symptoms have passed;
  • Follow the same advice as given for Coughs & Colds.
